David Normand

Writer | Producer | 1st Assistant Director

David is an industry veteran of 35+ years. He graduated from Massachusetts College of Art as a Photography Major. This paved the way into range of positions in the local Boston Broadcast Commercial Production; working his way up into roles as a Prod. Coordinator, Location Scout/Manager, and 2nd Assistant Director. He later moved into movies and TV, as a Location Manager.

Eventually he settled into a career as a 1st Assistant Director, with most of his career in TVC’s. He moved to Los Angeles in 1994 continuing in the field. He became a member of the Directors Guild of America, (DGA) in 2000 and is still an active member. Whilst in LA his workload became heavily involved in Automotive advertising and it quickly became a favourite genre to work in. This lead to a side career in Precision and Stunt Driving, eventually becoming a Screen Actors Guild member (2006- still active). David also directed a number of short films, ( Mothers Dance in 2004, High Traffic in 2005) during his nearly 20 year run in California.

He migrated to Australia in 2013, with his Australian wife, and merged quickly into the SE Queensland TVC workforce. He continued to 1st AD, but also began dabbling in Directing, & Producing as well. He has since written a number of screenplays with his writing partner and also has started a career as a Voice Over Artist (US and AUS). David continues to be active in all of these mediums.
